Extra Opportunities

  • All students in their junior year participate in Public Achievement, a program in which they learn a process for engaging secondary students in civic action projects.
  • Students are invited to attend relevant conferences sponsored by College departments, the College of Education, and the Minnesota Council for the Social Studies (MCSS).
  • Students may participate in Multi-Cultural Pre-Teaching Experiences, a project for social studies students to tutor Hispanic students at area high schools. See the social studies coordinator if you are interested in participating.
  • The social studies program offers scholarships to support pre-service social studies students who take advantage of international learning opportunities.  Scholarships range in value from $500 to $2000.
