Internship

Three students in business attire

All of our students are required to do a three-month internship as part of the program curriculum. Many students choose to do their internship over the summer between their first and second years. Others choose to do their internship during their second year of study.

My titles included “Learning and Development Intern” for New Horizon Academy, and “Talent Analyst Intern” for Granite Equity Partners. I learned the importance of real world experience, networking, and data orientation in the workplace. The lessons I learned from my internships will translate into my career and beyond – the internship requirement is just another reason the program here at MSU prepares you so well to make an impact in the real world.

Profile image of Derek RoweAt T-Mobile, I was an Instructional Designer within their Learning & Development organization. I worked very closely with T-Mobile’s leadership development team designing and developing learning solutions for managers across the company. Additionally, I was able to work alongside senior leadership to analyze qualitative data and help form T-Mobile’s new leadership strategy. This strategy was meant to align with their new competency model that reflected T-Mobile’s values after acquiring Sprint.

Profile image of Jacqueline KargeAs a People Team Graduate Intern at UnitedHealth Group (UHG), I served as a People Business Partner within the OptumRx division. My role involved consulting with business leaders, supervisors, and the OptumRx team to enhance employee engagement. During this experience, I gained valuable insights into the significance of asking questions, embracing risk-taking, building networks, and adapting to ambiguity to meet project and team requirements. This internship provided me with a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical business application in the real world.
