The department offers two sociology masters degrees: M.A. in Sociology: General Emphasis, and M.S. in Sociology: Human Services Planning and Administration. Each degree has its own distinct purpose statement, admission requirements, and program requirements. The programs share a common core of required seminars in sociology.

Sociology: Human Service Planning & Administration, M.S.

The Master of Science in Sociology: Human Services Planning and Administration is designed for a person seeking a leadership role as an administrator in the field of human services.

Sociology: General Emphasis, M.A.

The Master of Arts in Sociology: General Emphasis is designed for the person seeking a comprehensive, sociological understanding of the social world.

Sociology: College Teaching, M.A.

The Master of Arts Sociology: College Teaching is designed for students planning an academic career with a Master’s degree and an emphasis on teaching.
