CANCELED: Social Work Honors Day
Thursday, March 26, 2020
3:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Minnesota State University, Mankato and the Department of Social Work are committed to taking any steps necessary to protect the health and safety of our faculty, staff and students, as well as all visitors to campus. To limit the spread of COVID-19, we will no longer be holding the Social Work Honors Day on March 26.
Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Social Work will hold its annual social work honors day event Thursday, March 26, 2020 in Centennial Student Union, Room 253/4/5. A 3:30 p.m. reception will precede the program, which will take place from 4-6 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Advancing Human Rights & Advocating for Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice".
Our keynote speaker is Commissioner Rebecca Lucero with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. She plans to speak to intersectionality and how we are complex beings who hold multiple identities. She will also share information about the department’s activities and why this is such an important moment to begin doing civil rights work.
The Department of Social Work will present the Social Work Alumnus of the Year, the Outstanding New Social Worker of the Year, and the Collaborative Agency of the Year Award at this event. In addition, the department will recognize social work student scholars and scholarship recipients.
Registration deadline is March 19.
