Highlights of the Minnesota State Mankato I-O Experience
At Minnesota State University, Mankato, we strive to create a highly engaged cohort of students. Students complete rigorous course work but attending classes is only a small portion of what we do.
APPLIED EXPERIENCES & NETWORKING
- Work on consulting projects through the Organizational Effectiveness Research Group (OERG)
- Attend monthly meetings of the Minnesota Professionals for Psychology Applied to Work (MPPAW)
- Receive mentoring from MPPAW members
- Receive one-on-one professional coaching services from advisory board members
- Attend Lunch & Learn sessions that highlight professional skill development
COURSEWORK
- Complete challenging course work
- Focus on practical applications in the field
- Complete real-world projects
TRAVEL
- Travel to meet with clients on OERG consulting projects
- Travel to the annual Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology conference (2020 – Austin TX, 2021 – New Orleans LA)
- Travel to specialized conferences (DevLearn- Las Vegas; Qualtrics, Salt Lake City)
- Travel internationally on our biannual trip (Recent destinations: Belize, Ireland, Austria/Czech Republic, Turkey)
RELATIONSHIPS
- Build strong relationships with peers in your cohort
- Work collaboratively with faculty and peers on class and consulting projects
- Attend weekly program social events
