Travel Arrangements*

Thursday, March 5	Thursday, March 5 – Twin Cities Departure. Assemble at Minneapolis- St. Paul International Airport for early afternoon departure on Delta Airlines for Atlanta, with connecting flight to Rome.
Friday, March 6	Rome Arrival. Arrive Rome in the morning and transfer, with assistance, to Grand Hotel Palatino. The remainder of your day is free for independent exploration.
Saturday, March 7	Rome. Morning guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of St. Peter. Afternoon is free for independent exploration. (B)
Sunday, March 8	Rome. Morning guided tour of ancient Rome including the Colosseum and Forum. The Colosseum was the first permanent ampitheater to be built in Rome. Its monumental size and graddeur make it one of the great architectural monuments achieved by the ancient Romans. The Forum was the center of political and social activity. It was the marketplace of Rome and also the business district and civic center. Afternoon is free for independent exploration. (B)
Monday, March 9	Rome/Pompeii/Naples. Morning departure to Pompeii for afternoon guided tour; transfer to Naples with possible free time. Reassemble at a local restaurant for a group dinner. Then proceed to the pier for overnight ferry to Palermo (3 or 4 berth cabins provided) (B,D)
Tuesday, March 10	Palermo. Arrive Palermo in early morning and transfer, with assistance, to Hotel Jolly Palermo for breakfast followed by a half-day guided tour of the city, including Piazza Pretoria, Piazza Bellini, 12th Century San Cataldo, the Cathedral and the Palace of the Normans (B).
Wednesday, March 11	Palermo /Taormina. Morning departure by private motorcoach to Taormina, via Nicolosi to view Mt. Etna; check-in at Villa Blanca Resort; Afternoon is free for independent exploration. (B)
Thursday, March 12	Taormina. Free day for independent exploration Possibly take a trip to the Isola Bella, a nature reserve, also known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea. Tours of the Capo Sant' Andrea grottos, with its well known Blue Gortto are also available. (B)
Friday, March 13	Taormina/Siracusa/Catania. Morning departure by private motorcoach to Siracusa for locally guided tour, including the Archaeological Area, taking in the Greek Theatre (5th Century BC); ancient Paradise Quarry and Roman Amphitheatre (3rd Century BC); Old Town on the island of Ortygia, with its medieval and Baroque Palaces featuring the Temple of Apollo (ruins), the oldest known Doric temple in Western Europe; return to Catania for overnight at Hotel NH Jolly Bellini. (B)
Saturday, March 14 Sunday, March 15	Catania/Rome. Transfer, with assistance, to airport for departure on Air One to Rome; arrive about noon and transfer, with assistance, to Hotel; Afternoon is free for independent exploration. Farewell group dinner at local restaurant. (B,D) Rome/Twin Cities. Transfer, with assistance, to airport for morning departure on Delta Airlines to Atlanta; clear customs and proceed to connecting flight for the Twin Cities. (B)

The 24-hour clock is used for travel outside of the United States. All times above 12.00 are in the afternoon or evening (simply subtract 12 hours from the time indicated, e.g., 12.00 is noon, 20.00 is 8:00 p.m.).
Participants are responsible for carrying their own luggage to and from the airport, train, motorcoach and hotel.
Participants are advised to carry overnight bags as a safeguard against any flight or baggage claim delays.
