SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with rank and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach and advise in the undergraduate law enforcement program. We seek applications for one professor in any law enforcement area of criminal justice studies. Areas of foucs should include some combinationa of the following, but are not limited to: Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Terrorism, Police Communications and Tactics, Crisis Mangement, Police Stress, Police Response to Victims/Survivors, and other specialty areas utilizing the candidate's expertise. All faculty members are expected to maintain continuing study, engage in research, contribute too strudent growth and development, and be involved in university and community service. The department is strongly committed to diversity and preparing students for work with diverse populations.   

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  PH.D. (or ABD with degree completed by August 18, 2009) in Criminal Justice or in any disciplines closely related to law enforcement. J.D. as highest degree does not meet the required qualifications.
  • Ability to teach in law enforcement area of criminal justice studies.
  • Potential for excellence in teaching, s cholarship, advising, and service.
  • Ability to bring diversity to our department, college and university. 

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Law enforcement or other criminal justice agency experience.
  • Ability to intergrate academic and practitioner aspects of the law enforcement profession.
  • Completed doctorate.
  • Teaching experience.
  • A record of scholarship.

RELATED INFORMATION:


The Department has sixteen full-time faculty, seven of whom teach mostly in law enforcement. The total department has over 600 majors, of which more than 400 are law enforcement, and most of that 400 want to become Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Board certified in Minnesota. The program has an outstanding reputation and attracts students from diverse backgrounds. The Department offers the B.A. and B.S. degrees in Law Enforcement, Political Science, and International Relations, as well as the M.A. in Political Science, and the M.A. in Public Administration.
