On October 24, 2022, the Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of World Languages & Cultures and the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment Program will be hosting Pan-Lingua: Undergraduate Conference on Languages & Cultures. Pan-Lingua: Undergraduate Conference on Languages & Cultures is the next generation of the research undergraduate conference that started as SUR (Spanish Undergraduate Conference).

The conference seeks to enhance our knowledge and understanding of the languages that we teach in our schools (including but not limited to: Dakota, German, French, Norwegian, Spanish), the history, literature, arts, and perspectives of those cultures, and to provide undergraduate students with a venue where they can disseminate research and creative work in the target language.

Dr. Constanza Ocampo-Raeder, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Carleton College, will be the keynote speaker, with her presentation “Mexican Tarzans, Drunken Donkeys and a Sea Full of Urchins: Exploring the Possibility of a More Inclusive Approach to Nature Appreciation and Environmental Action in a Popular Beach of Acapulco, Mexico.”

The conference will also include three breakout sessions with speakers from Bethel University, Carleton College, Minnesota State University, Macalester College, South Dakota State University, St. Olaf College, and the University of South Dakota.

No registration is required. Read more information about the conference including a full schedule here.
