The Midwestern Conference on Professional Psychology is organized and hosted by the Psychology department at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The goal of the conference is to promote the dissemination of empirically-oriented psychological research from a variety of disciplines within the field of psychology (e.g., clinical, industrial/organizational, social, behavior analysis.) In addition, we encourage presentations that provoke discussion of relevant professional and ethical issues. The conference is intended to involve a wide audience of both students of psychology (and related disciplines) and community professionals that work in the field and wish to update their knowledge. As a service to local professionals, we also offer continuing education credits for psychologists.
The conference occurs over the course of two days, Thursday afternoon and all day Friday, typically in late March.
Our Thursday afternoon events are geared primarily towards students and involve presentations by Minnesota State Mankato graduate students and faculty. Although professionals are welcome to attend these events, no continuing education credits (CEUs) are offered specifically for the Thursday events.
Friday events are geared toward both student and professional audiences. We typically have about 4 professional speakers (including a keynote speaker) that cover a wide variety of topics. Continuing education credits for psychologists are available for the Friday events. We typically are able to provide between 5 and 6 CEUs depending on the actual length of programming.
