Chicago, Illinois: MPSA 2007
I attended the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) conference in Chicago April 12 through 15, 2007. My experience at this conference was different this year because six MSU students joined me at the conference. The students had been awarded a Chapter Activity Grant from the national office of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society. The grant funds were fully utilized with the students' hotel rooms and flights from Minneapolis. At the conference, I was discussant for the panel "The Dynamics of Group Conflict," and chair for the panel "The Political Consequences of Racial Stereotypes." My next trip to Chicago will be in April 2008 for the Midwest Political Science Association meeting.

After the President's Reception on April 13, we enjoyed dinner at Salpicon, which has consistently ranked near the top of Chicago's Mexican restaurants ever since its opening in 1995.
In the late afternoon April 14, I went running to the lakefront, camera in tow. This shot of Chicago's impressive skyline, taken from the park near the Museum Campus (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium area) made it worth my while to bring the camera.
On Saturday, April 14, we had dinner at Giordano's, a great venue for Chicago style pizza. We had a 45-minute wait for a table, so why not take pictures while waiting? From left to right are Andrew Ansel, Mary O'Connor, Justin Newman, and Dave Gindorff. The location is the plaza outside the Giordano's location near the corner of Lake St. and Michigan Ave.
