Since nursing students take several courses that link the major with gerontology, the following plan for nursing majors to obtain a gerontology minor has been approved. (25 total credits)

- SOC 404 – Sociology of Aging (3)
- PSYC 466 – Psychology of Aging (3)
- BIOL 417 – Biology of Aging and Chronic Diseases (3)
- POL 464 – Aging Policy Issues (3)
- SOC 405 – Sociology of Death (4)or HLTH 441 – Death Education (3)
- NURS 340 – Gerontological Nursing (2)
- NURS 351 – Altered Physiologic Mode Clinical 1 and NURS 461 – Community Health Clinical (2 credits allowed) (Students who have completed the courses N. 351 Altered Physiologic Mode Clinical 1 and N. 461 Community Health Clinical will have experienced at least 60 hours or 2 credits of working with the gerontological client.) Electives
Three credits will be chosen from other gerontology courses offered by the participating departments.
