Rationale:
The purpose of the 18 credits--semester hours online Ethnic Studies Minor Program is in response to the demand by students for flexibility and freedom in their learning experiences. The proposed online program is based on the following category of courses: Prerequisites, Major Common Core and Restricted Electives. Desire2Learn (D2L) which is the Minnesota State University’s (MSU) web-based management system will be used to manage the delivery of the online courses. Students who complete the coursework will acquire cross-cultural competency skills. In addition, students can transfer the coursework to the baccalaureate degree at MSU or other universities.
This Online Ethnic Studies Minor Program requires a total of 18credits--semester hours. Faculty teach courses via the Desire2Learn. The Desire2Learn (D2L) is Minnesota State University’s (MSU) web-based management system, which manages the delivery of the online courses. All registered students have immediate access to D2L via its link on the MSU homepage. Upon completion, students can transfer the coursework to the baccalaureate degree at MSU or other universities.
Students must be admitted to a major at Minnesota State University or other universities and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher.
