Grace Lundquist and her husband established the Grace E. Lundquist Scholarship endowment in 1984, to encourage enrollment in the Mankato State University Women's Studies curriculum beyond the introductory level. The endowment was created through gifts from Lundquist to the Foundation. Grace took Women's Studies courses at MSU in the 1970's and 80's, when she majored in Political Science and minored in Women's Studies.
According to Grace, "People don't realize the vast richness of women in history, art, music, as politicians struggling for the vote. No one pulled this information out of history until we had Women's Studies. That knowledge will enrich anyone who takes Women's Studies; it will help them to better understand their culture. That's the good side. The bad side is what happened to women throughout history. We need to know both."
