The Student Research Grant Fund Scholarship was established in 2000. It is funded with revenue obtained at the Northern Great Plains History Conference.
The Northern Great Plains History Conference is sponsored each year by a different institute of higher education. Professionals and students from the region participate in the various seminars and network with other historians.
The Northern Great Plains History Conference was held at MSU in 1991 and again in 2000. The profits from those conferences were set aside as grant money to support undergraduate or graduate student research, including travel, per diem expenses, as well as the purchase of supplies or materials.
