Boyd Duncan taught at MSU from 1965-1985. He pioneered the Human Sexuality course in 1970.

Gustav PettersonGustav Petterson

Dr. Gustav Petterson was the first teacher of Sociology at Mankato State University. He taught from 1913-1957 and was known as "SocyPete."

T.R. SchafflerT.R. Schaffler

Theodore Schaffler was born on February 4, 1902, in the Oklahoma Territory. While in Oklahoma he was a high school principal, superintendent of schools and professor of Sociology. He was also a professor of Sociology and served as department head at MSU for 20 years. He enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. Schaffler died on November 22, 2000; he was 98 years old.
