How to Volunteer

Page address:

We Encourage You to Volunteer in the Community!

Learning for students in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences often occurs outside of the classroom. One important place is in the community where students can share their gifts and talents with others. There are many volunteer opportunities to get involved with in the Mankato area.

For volunteer opportunities, you can contact Student Leadership Development and Service-Learning by stopping by CSU 173 or by calling 389-6076 or check out the Community Based Learning & Civic Engagement website to learn more about civic engagement.

For a list of volunteer organizations in the Mankato Area visit the Civic Organizations webpage.

Community Service Awards

Each spring faculty and students are invited to nominate a student and/or a student club for a College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Community Service Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize exemplary community service performed by our students during the last three years. You may nominate more than one student and/or student club. Winners will be recognized at a community service awards breakfast.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A student (undergraduate or graduate) must have a declared major in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, be a full time student, and be in good academic standing.
  • A club must be associated with a department or program in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and recognized by the MSSA.
